Oily Skin
Hi My Loves,
Are you like me and suffer from the dreaded Oily skin and you just don't no what foundation to go for because every one you put on your skin melts off. Well I'm going to try and help you out.
So over the last week or two I have been getting so many messages asking what the best foundation is for both oily and dry skin. So I decided that the best way to answer everyone was to do a blog post. I am going to split it in two, so today will be us oily girls and Friday or Saturday we will focus on the dry skin.
Ok so let me just say one thing, I am not a qualified makeup artist I just love makeup and I am self-taught. Also in order for any foundation to agree with your skin, you have to have a good skin care routine. That is very important. As well as a good primer.
If you would like me to do a blog post on skincare or primers for oily & dry skin leave a comment below?
Ok oily girls, let’s get to it. So yea I suffer from oily skin and it took me years to find foundations that suited my skin type but still, to this day, I buy foundations that just look like someone poured a bottle of Crisp 'n Dry on my skin lol.
No.1. M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid
This will always be my 'go to' foundation and will always have a place in my makeup collection. It's amazing and I love everything about.
Now is saying that I do know some people that this foundation breaks their skin out but I never had this problem.
The foundation claims to be oil controlling and medium to build able coverage` and I fully agree. Believe me a small amount goes a very long way and it covers a multitude. I used this for years until I decided to experiment with others. If you use M.A.C Studio fix powder to set it, it’s perfect.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation:
This really can be described only in one word and it’s in the name, MAGIC. It’s a beautiful foundation. It’s a medium to buildable coverage and dry’s to a semi matte finish. The best thing about this foundation is that after you apply it, your skin still looks like skin and it doesn’t break down or settle into fine lines, which with oily skin is a major problem. This foundation claims to be for all skin types and in my opinion it’s perfect for us oily girls. I have been wearing it now for over 4 months and it’s MAGIC.

Inglot HD Foundation:
This has become my 'go to' foundation for nights out and special events. Suitable for sensitive skin, Inglot HD foundation is full coverage, hypoallergenic and provides long lasting coverage and conceals discolouration and imperfections.
Again I only use it as my nights out and for special events as it is quite heavy but it’s flawless on your skin.
It can still leave a dewy look to the skin, which is lovely but not if you suffer from oil. So I set it with the Laura Mercier translucent powder and I can get up to 8 hours wear until I have to powder again.
I love this foundation; I would definitely recommend it for your makeup bag if you love full coverage for nights out or if you just love full coverage.

Kevin Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer:
Holy Moly this is without doubt the most full coverage foundation I have ever used or even seen. For those of you that know this foundation will know that it’s such a tiny lil pot of wonder, the tiniest amount will go so far its ridiculous.
To be honest when I bought it I didn’t think it would last on my skin, because it claims to provide dewy skin but at the same time is suitable for all skin types.
I got my makeup done in Mise Beauty in Dundalk and they used this on me and it lasted me all day, I didn’t have to touch up once. I was shocked.
So of course I bought it. It offers sheer coverage also if you mix it with your moisturiser which is also gorgeous and can be used as a concelar. It’s such a multi task product but it is an expensive wee thing.

Estee Lauder Double Wear:
This is one of the best foundations for a matte finish that doesn’t move, it holds up for hours on the skin; you can nearly go the whole day without powdering you face.
The foundation is oil and shine free and leaves your skin looking amazing. It claims to be a medium coverage but in my opinion it’s a full coverage foundation. The only thing with this foundation is it dry’s very quick, so you need to work with it quickly. This in my opinion is a 'go to' foundation for oily skin.
I’m in shade Tawny.

Your probably thinking to yourself, awh here this one thinks were made of money with the high end foundations. I will be honest, I don't think "drug store" foundations are any good for oily skin. If you want a foundation that is going to work your going to spend over the €30 mark for it. Now maybe that's just me and they didn't do anything for my skin but they might for yours. But I'm not going to tell you to go buy a cheap foundation just because its cheap, at the end of they day your going to pay for a good foundation.
Guys again, in order for any foundation to work correctly on your skin, you really do need a proper skin care routine. Please remember that if you’re trying a foundation out and it’s not happening for you.
I hope this helps my lovely’s.
Love Claire xxxx

Thanks for your reviews!
ReplyDeleteI suffer from oily skin so much! Thank you one more time for all the suggestions!I want to be brave and take the no makeup challenge :). I'm just a little worried about looking tired/non professional at work. I like the idea of saving makeup/foundation for special days. Agatha Singer has got a wonderful article about using makeup on oily skin, you may read it here. How often do you wear makeup?
